Soft Late Spring Rain

Once again, soft steady rain for days with hours of warm sun and blue skies.  The orchard grass is over four feet now; it will get mowed soon.  The meadowlarks should be leaving their nests by next week, and I'm so happy the wild cats haven't found the little ones this year.

First Fall Rain

Soft rain fell after midnight, soaking the baked grasses in the field. The gardens and the orchard are damp and fragrant this morning, and the birds are singing.
